Ashley Gill and George Spanos's wedding, which was featured in Condé Nast Traveller India, was a heartfelt celebration of their Indian and Greek heritage, unfolding across two continents. The festivities began on Ashley's family's 260-acre blueberry farm in Vancouver, where they honored her Punjabi roots with a traditional Sikh ceremony. “It was originally my brother’s dream to host my wedding here, in my parents’ backyard, where we grew up and shared so many special moments. Our first visit to Vancouver as a couple was to see the farm, where George got a glimpse of my childhood. We knew this would be the perfect location for our Indian wedding—a way to honour my brother and our upbringing,” Ashley shares. The couple then traveled to Monemvasia, Greece, a historic fortified town where George spent his childhood summers, for a Greek Orthodox ceremony. This picturesque setting, known as the "Gibraltar of the East," provided a romantic backdrop for their union, blending old-world charm with coastal serenity.
As a wedding photographer, capturing Ashley and George's multicultural celebration was an inspiring experience. From the vibrant Mehndi and Jago nights in Vancouver to the traditional Greek dances and plate-breaking rituals in Monemvasia, every moment was steeped in cultural significance and personal meaning. Ashley's fashion journey was a standout element of the celebrations—she wore ten custom-designed outfits styled by Tanya Vohra from CLAD, including a Tarun Tahiliani lehenga and a breathtaking Gaurav Gupta gown that shimmered under a starry-night themed reception. Each look told a story, seamlessly weaving high fashion into the rich tapestry of their wedding events.
